The Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal is recognised by the U.G.C., M.P. Government and A.I.U. Delhi and is a member of the Common Wealth Universities London. The Government of Madhya Pradesh established the University under an act no. 15 of 1990 to commemorate the great Hindi poet, renowned and dedicated freedom fighter and journalist Pt. Makhanlal Chaturvedi and was formally inaugurated by the Vice President Dr. Shankardayal Sharma on 16th Jan. 1991. image not found The University is developing as a specialized center for dissemination of knowledge and skills in various fields of journalism, Library and information science, Public Relation, Computer application and Mass communication. It also aims at developing latest technology and software for communication in rural and tribal areas. The Vice-President of India is the ex-officio Visitor (Kuladhyaksh) of the University. The General Council is the supreme authority with the State Chief Minister as its ex-officio Chairman.
